Paramore is an American rock band formed in 2004 in Franklin, Tennessee. The band's lineup has changed over the years, but it was originally founded by lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Josh Farro, drummer Zac Farro, and bassist Jeremy Davis. Paramore's music spans a variety of genres, including pop punk, alternative rock, emo, and new wave, with later albums incorporating pop and synth elements.
The band gained early recognition with their debut album All We Know Is Falling (2005) and achieved mainstream success with their second album Riot! (2007), which included hits like "Misery Business" and "Crushcrushcrush." The band's energetic and emotive sound, along with Williams' powerful vocals, made them a defining band in the mid-2000s pop-punk and emo scenes.
Their third album, Brand New Eyes (2009), marked a more mature sound and included popular songs like "Ignorance" and "Brick by Boring Brick." Following this, the band underwent lineup changes, with the Farro brothers departing in 2010. Despite these changes, Paramore's 2013 self-titled album Paramore was a critical and commercial success, with singles like "Ain't It Fun" and "Still Into You" showcasing their evolving sound and earning them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
After several more years of changes and releases, including Paramore's 2017 album After Laughter, which leaned heavily into 80s-inspired pop and new wave, the band has continued to be known for its versatility, emotional depth, and Hayley Williams' distinctive vocal style.
Paramore is regarded as one of the most successful and influential bands in the pop-punk and alternative rock scenes, and Hayley Williams, in particular, has become an iconic figure in modern rock music.
